FAQS | POLICIES

*By purchasing any Boos Leather pieces, you are in agreement to all information found here*

WHAT IS YOUR EXCHANGE/RETURN POLICY?

Communication is key! Please contact me BEFORE shipping anything back to ensure it fits the necessary conditions for return/exchange and so I may have the opportunity to provide a solution to any concerns or questions you have regarding your item!

All In Stock items may be returned or exchanged up to 14 days after the original sale or delivery date. Once I have received the item and verified it to be in its original, unused condition an exchange or return (original payment method) can be issued. Customers are responsible for return shipment costs unless the error is on my end.

Due to the customized nature of Bespoke Built or fully custom items I cannot offer returns or exchanges. Sale items are final sale.

WHY ARE YOU UNABLE TO SHIP CERTAIN PRODUCTS TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA?

Unfortunately, due to the state’s penal code 653o, it is unlawful to sell to or distribute in and out of California both python and kangaroo materials. In the event that these items are purchased by a California resident, the item will not ship and the amount of purchase will be refunded.

HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE FOR SHIPPING?

Domestic orders under $100 ship with a flat rate of $4.00 and over $100 have complimentary default shipping. All international orders ship with a flat rate of $20.

WHEN CAN I EXPECT MY ITEM(S) TO SHIP?

Unless specified as a custom or made-to-order item, all in stock items are ready to go and will ship within 2-5 business days. The default shipping method is USPS First Class or Priority mail. In some cases, due to heavier weights or unusual parcel sizes, your order may ship USPS Ground. Once an order has shipped successfully I will not be responsible for any parcels lost or stolen. If you have any special shipping requests (insurance, required signature, etc.) don’t hesitate to contact me prior to purchase.

DO YOU TAKE CUSTOM ORDERS?

I will happily consider all custom order requests!

Before you inquire, please notice that in the Bespoke Built collections customization is available within the listings themselves that do not require special communication with me outside the website. No need to wait on a custom request list! Straightforward changes to these collection items such as size, color or type of materials can be accommodated. From there I can verify that your desired choices are in stock and, in the case of alligator or crocodile, can offer additional consultation and pricing adjustment for final billing.

Fully custom items, especially those that include artwork and new construction designs, will be carefully considered before accepting to ensure I am able to dedicate my full passion and time to your vision. If initially accepted, I also require your ability and availability to trust the artistry, have excellent communication and decisiveness over the course of the build process. Please note I do not design or begin artwork until a deposit has been made.

CAN I BE PUT ON A WAITLIST FOR CUSTOM WORK IF YOU'RE CURRENTLY BUSY?

I do not take deposits for custom work that I cannot begin within a few days therefore will never have an official booked waitlist. If my order queue is full, I will still briefly discuss a simple inquiry and then put your name and date down if the item has been initially accepted. Please understand this does NOT guarantee you an official custom order spot, but guarantees you a spot in line when I become free to be contacted to see if you are then ready to place a deposit/payment to secure an actual order spot at that time. Please note that if you substantially change your originally requested item at this time it’s possible your spot will be moved ahead or denied. Also if I don't receive any communication back within a day or so I will move on to the next customer in line.

I must ask for your patience and understanding that as an artist I must dedicate a large portion of my time to developing my own artistry and private contract work as well. Some months may be filled with less custom work than others.

HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE FOR TOOLING OR DYE ARTWORK?

My artwork, not including the item it’s crafted into, has ranged anywhere from $50 to over $1,000. For example, most of the medium to large tooled dog collars range $500-800 on average upon completion. Since I charge for the time that it takes, size doesn’t always matter, but the amount of detail does--not dissimilar to how a tattoo artist bills their client.

DO YOU REQUIRE DEPOSITS OR OFFER PAYMENTS ON CUSTOM WORK?

If the custom item is identical in labor time to a previously made piece, I will be able to calculate an exact total for you and will require full payment before work begins. Otherwise you will be given an educated estimate and the deposit will be about a third of projected final total. Once work begins, deposits are non-refundable. Final remainder is due within 7 days of receiving payment link when project is complete. If it is not received by this time, I reserve the right to keep the item and/or offer it for public sale to recoup my costs.

Please note that artwork or unique designs will be more challenging to project cost for in advance, but I assure you I will do my best based on previous experience! Translucency and fairness is important to me. My pricing is simply based on the carefully documented labor time (to the minute) and materials used, so you'll never pay a dollar more than what is put into your custom piece.

DO YOU DO LEATHER REPAIR WORK?

I will not do repair work on any leather items other than those purchased from Boos Leather.

CAN YOU SHIP EXOTIC LEATHERS INTERNATIONALLY?

At this time I am not licensed or possess the permits to do so, namely goods that utilize species listed within CITES. The cost of these are great to a small maker and unfortunately would have to be worked into the sale price of the item. Shipping without proper protocol can result in major fines and penalties. Thank you for understanding!

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY BOOS LEATHER PIECE?

While my leathers and construction are of the utmost quality and favored for durability there is some key advice on keeping your pieces well-preserved for years to come:

  • To maintain the clarity and vividness of my hand-painted dye work or bright colors, refrain from letting your piece spend time in direct sunlight or regular exposure to oils from skin or hair as it can either fade or darken more quickly
  • Avoid allowing the leather to come in contact with any harsh chemicals or oils not intended for leather (lotions, perfume, deodorant, etc)
  • When not in use, store in a dry and cool area
  • If your piece becomes soiled, carefully dab or wipe off with a clean, damp, and soft cloth. Do not rub. Always allow damp or wet leather to dry off on its own--never apply heat. If this is a dog collar, it needs to dry off your dog's neck to prevent the leather from forming mildew or rot.
  • Exotics:  glazed color finishes are prone to water-spotting so do not allow these pieces to get wet at all. The spots are harmless to the leather itself but hard to remove.
  • Most leather only needs to be cleaned/conditioned about twice a year,  maybe more in dryer climates. I highly recommend Bickmore Bick 4 Leather Conditioner and the Bickmore Exotic (again, this will dull the glazed finish but will offer your piece additional protection in exchange).
